All Inclusive Childcare
We make things that little bit easier for families by offering an All Inclusive Package – all nappies, wipes, meals and activities are included in our fees with no additional fees.
Physical Development
We are lucky to have a dedicated Physical Development Star Leader at our nursery - our senior staff member Katie. Katie ensures that fun and active activities are provided daily for our children through dancing, yoga, and lots of other fun physical activities.
Christmas Shows
We celebrate Christmas by putting on a wonderful Christmas show for friends and family each year. There’s always much excitement in preparing for the show as we learn songs and organise our special event.

Every Child a Talker
Through our Every Child’s A Talker (ECAT) language programme we provide a detailed, age-appropriate language sessions in each of our nursery rooms. Babies and Toddlers have lots of fun at our sing and sign sessions, our Tweenies enjoy Looking and Listening sessions, and our Pre-schoolers begin Letters and Sounds sessions in preparation for school.
Graduation
At the end of the Preschool year it is sadly time for our children to graduate ready for their move to school. We celebrate this with a fantastic graduation ceremony as we proudly celebrate their achievements. Our nursery photographer attends to take photographs of our children in their cap and gowns, as we celebrate another fantastic year.
Bi-Lingual Staff
We are lucky to have bi-lingual staff who are able to support children in their first language, or in exploring new languages. This not only helps children settle well into nursery, but also provides opportunity to better understand and celebrate children’s cultures and heritage. We have staff fluent in Urdu, Bengali and Punjabi.

Settling in Sessions
Our nursery offers settling in sessions. Parents can bring their child for a couple of hours first, gradually introducing the child to a new environment. Settling in sessions are aimed at helping your child to adapt to their new surroundings and become more familiar with the staff and other children.
Eco Schools
Eco Schools is the largest sustainable schools programme in the world and is designed to encourage action on sustainable development education issues. Our children love getting involved in their Eco Schools projects and learning about how to help protect the environment.
Autism Champion
Our staff is undergoing autism awareness training in order to be able to provide autism friendly services. This allows children with autism to thrive socially, emotionally and educationally alongside their peers.

Special Festivals
Our nursery encourages children to celebrate festivals throughout the year. This is one of the best ways for children to learn about different religions and cultures by celebrating various world religious festivals, food tasting from different countries, and dressing up in the national dress of their friends.
Celebrations
We celebrate a variety of festivities and special days throughout the year at Holyrood. For many of these celebrations we invite our families in to join us and have a taste of nursery life at Castleton. One of our favourites is Grandparents day which is always lots of fun!
Community Outings
Our nursery enjoys great ties with our local community and we are often out and about visiting local sights and getting involved in events.

Parent Communication
In recognition that education begins in the home, we are fully committed to a partnership approach with parents. Parents are kept up to date with 6 weekly newsletters, parent focus groups and parent’s evenings every term. Parents are also able to keep up to date with activities going on in the nursery by following our social media accounts; Facebook and Twitter.
Nursery Uniform
We offer families the choice of purchasing a nursery uniform. These optional uniforms offer a smart and practical clothing choice for play at nursery.
Daily Mile
Simple and free initiative that encourages children to run or jog outside for 15 minutes.
